Time is flying by....

I've got 4 weeks left of uni - can you believe that - 4 weeks! Eek! Scary stuff! I'm really struggling to stay motivated too, I know I just need to focus and these 4 weeks will fly past, but that's a lot easier said than done! I'm currently just trying to sort out my sketchbooks, and then going to have a chat with my tutor on Thursday and arrange what I'm doing for my final collection, then get cracking with making that, and then design boards & finishing touches - thats the plan anyway... whether or not it will run that smoothly we shall have to wait and see! Here's a rough idea of the finals for my textile kitchenware collection - lemme know what you think! I've tried to spread out the designs over the ceramics and the kitchenware to see what lends itself best to what, hopefully a chat with my tutor should make things a bit clearer - but if you've got any other ideas I'd for you to share them with me :-)

Also - I found out this morning that one of my cushion designs using this pattern got published in an online article! I'm super pleased (despite them not asking permission first!) - it's nice to know my work is considered 'Gorgeous Geometrics' along with other professional designers work! If you fancy a peek - here it is

Ceramics Collection!

Thought I'd share with you some ideas for my final collection as I'd quite like your opinion one which are your favourite! I plan to do 4 different sets, each with matching dinner plate, side plate, bowl & mug.  A plain placemat in matching colours (possibly made from my faceted fabric - I'm still yet to share this with you guys) and then a textile kitchenware collection of aprons, oven mitts & tea towels! I've definately got my work cut out for me, so if you lovelies would be so kind to give me your opinion on your favourite collections out of these ceramics - it'd be highly appreciated! ;-)

Lambs!

Here's the second installment of the weekends piccies from the Dales! Lots of little lambs and a giant waterfall (which the boys insisted on climbing behind!)

Eek!

Ok, Super sorry for being so quiet, I really have been quite busy! Seriosly cannot wait for the 25th of May now (not long to go!) then everything is handed in and I can finally get on with my life! This weekend I went away to the Yorkshiredales for the mr's mums 50th birthday! I had a lovely time - despite the epic amount of rain! I managed to pack the right stuff so for once I was prepared for the huge downpour we had! They really picked the right time of year to go to as all the little baby lambs were out. My heart melted at every single one and all you could here from me in the car driving there was squeeks of delight everytime we passed a field full of them! Anyway, here are a few of my snaps from the weekend - I couldn't use my camera much due to the epic amount of rain, but I think these will do :-)

Teacups!

During my trip home I thought I'd snap some piccies of little vintage treasures I've got dotted around collected from charity shops & passed down from my Mumma's collection. I'll share some other bits and bobs with you next week but for now, here are the super pretty teacups! :-)

New Music

Seeing as I've been locked in my room slaving away over my work for hours on end - I've been listening to a LOT of music, and I thought I'd share with you some of the new music I've been listening to. I usually just whack on the radio and get bored of it after about 5 minutes because it's always a load of rubbish but lately I've been quite enjoying it!

Fun - We are young. I LOVE this song! I can't help to do a little dance around my room when this comes on - maybe a little foot stamping too!

Lana Del Ray - Blue Jeans - Think I definately need to invest in her album. her voice is just to die for.

Plan B - iLL Manors. This song has really grown on me, and I love the lyrics - I also love the posh version on YouTube here

Twin Atlantic - Make a beast out of myself. - I seriously cannot wait for loan day. I really need to download some new music! There's so much good new stuff out there!

Easter Weekend

Sorry I've been quiet this weekend! I went back home on Thursday night to spend the Easter weekend with my parents. It was my dads 50th  birthday the weekend before so we  all (me, my brother and sister) came back to Hull and went out for a meal to celebrate. I had a lovely weekend, but sadly didn't get any pictures! Sunday night we went for a meal out to ASK. It was nice but not as good as I seem to remember it? The Mr & my sisters boyfriend came along too and we all went out for drinks afterwards. I'm not  a massive drinker anymore, so me and my sister left early and left the boys to carry on around town. Safe to say they were feeling it in the morning! Overall it was a lovely weekend, but now its back to reality! :-( I've got an endless list of work to get doing and I've got an essay to write which I've not even started on. So sorry if its a bit quiet over here the next few days again. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have done lots of pretty work to show you! Hope you all enjoyed your Easter weekend too! :-)

Kitchenware!

So the other week I thought I'd be brave and have a tutorial at uni with one of the tutors (surprisingly!), and to my surprise it went really well! She really liked my ideas and gave me some really good advice, so now it's all systems go! I really need to power through and churn out work like I'm some kind of design machine! We discussed what purposes the design could be used for and I showed her my initial ceramics work - and she liked it! (unlike my other tutor who told me it was a no go). I also like it - so I'm going to go ahead with it, as I think it's a nice interesting way to show my final prints. Along with the ceramics I plan to create a 'Kitchen Collection'. I'm currently playing around in photoshop adding my designs to various items to see which patterns suit what best, then I'm going to pick which designs are going to be on what and what should be neutral etc! etc! I'm really pleased with the way my work is going and I really need to just keep focused and keep going! I've really got my heart set on a 1st for this project. I think a 1st overall is looking unlikely (I think my written work might drag me down) but theres no harm in hoping! Anyway... here's my 'teatowel' collection... Let me know what you think and which ones work best and owe themselves to tea towels nicely! :-) I'm also going to play around with placement prints ect, and not just allover patterns, it's all still to come :-)!
