Teacups!

During my trip home I thought I'd snap some piccies of little vintage treasures I've got dotted around collected from charity shops & passed down from my Mumma's collection. I'll share some other bits and bobs with you next week but for now, here are the super pretty teacups! :-)

Manchester Antique Textiles Fair

My university lecturer is on the comitee for the Textiles society & they were hosting their 20th Antique Textiles Fair in Manchester and needed some volunteers! We got a free lift there and free entry & I thought it'd be an interesting day out so I thought why not! Minus the 7am start I had a pretty good day! There was SO much gorgeous stuff I wanted/needed to buy but I stayed strong and managed not to splurge! It's well worth a trip there if you're interested in going in the future! There are so many gorgeous old pieces of fabrics, homewares, jewellery and clothes in one room, there is literally TOO much to look at. You'll need to go with plenty of time to spare as it really is worth having a rummage - and haggle with the sellers too! There are also a number of talks from various textile artists - I found the Q&A session with past Textile Society Busary winners the most interesting though! Here are the piccies I snapped! Sadly I didn't take any in the hall it was pretty crowded to get my camera out and start taking photos and I was way too distracted by all the pretty stuff around me! I found the last two on another blog but I thought I'd share just so you get an idea of the kind of stuff that was on the stall there!

My Mum & Dad

Whilst I'm on the topic of old family photos, I thought I'd throw this one out there. My dad really makes me laugh in this one! So 80's! I think they both look so much like my brother & sister in this picture! It kinda wierds me out a little!

My Grandparents

A little while ago my Mum went over to my Aunties to dig out some old family history stuff and came across some old photos from before my Mum was born. I love looking through old photos, particularly of relatives who sadly, I didn't get to know in time. I like to think just by looking through the photos I get to know a little bit more about who they were. When I think of my Nana & Grandpa I think of a really regal upper class couple and I love that I hold them in such high regard. They taught me manners and my Nana in particular taught me how to be a lady :-) Certain words in which cannot be said by a lady, sitting up straight, and being presentable and polite as much as possible. I've got so much love for this lady & I couldn't imagine a 'Nana' any other way than mine! Sadly, I was quite young when my Grandpa died but I hear many stories about him and know he must have been a lovely man and I only wish I got to know him better. I think I would have adored him! I'll always remember staying at theirs when I was little and how we'd always have proper butter, Robertsons jam, & the toast would go in a basket underneath a napkin - we'd never have it straight out of the toaster! Anyway! Here are a few lovely pictures of them back in the day! Theres another picture somewhere from around the 50's I think, of them dancing - I'll have to speak to my Mum &  get her to dig it out & send me it. I think it needs framing. They look so happy in it :-) I also need to hunt down the picture of my other Grandad sat on a plane with his mates in the war having a laugh. Another one I think I need to frame :-)

Vintage Suitcases!

Eek! A few weeks ago I stumbled across an absolute bargain from a new charity shop that opened up in town, and I got myself two vintage suitcases! Both are in awesome condition with their keys and locks still working and everything! Couldn't be more impressed with my find! :)

Charity Shopssss!

I went charity shop shopping again the other day! My sister wanted me to help her find an outfit in some little boutiques, so I bargained with her that I'd only go if I could raid some charity shops along the way! So I did!
I couldn't believe how cheap they were! The charity shops near me seem to have hiked up all their prices! I know it's for charity but I'm more likely to buy something if I feel I'm getting an absolute bargain! - Anyway! Heres what I found! :-)
A Cute Little Bowl - 29p!

Gorgeous Blue Tinted Glass Dish! - £3

Mini Teacup - Waiting to be made into a candle! - £1.50

Some Little Tealight Holders - 50p

Another Jar For More Buttons!!! 30p!

A Pretty Dish For Some Beads! 59p

My New GIANT Button Jar - £1.99

GORGEOUS Mirror - £3.99

And This Cute Little Basket Which I'm Dying To Put Some Eggs In! - 50p!
My sister suggested earlier that we go for a day in Pickering because apparently there are TONS of charity shops there and a flea market! I best get saving my pennies! I love old stuff! :-)
