So with the decision to go into Part-Time work it's given me the opportunity to invest more time into The Polkadotte - which is perfect for me! Over the last few months I've been attending various markets & fairs to show the public what I have to offer and I've had the best time!
My first was a fair up in my Screenprinting Friends neck of the woods at Sewerby Summer Gala and it was a gorgeous day! As most market/fair traders will know the initial set up is pretty pricey! It's easy to forget that as a customer the amount of time and effort the person whos stall you're looking at has put in to attending that event! It literally took me weeks to prepare! Making stock, pricing up, marketing ideas, creating packaging, business cards etc, then after all that I had to decide on a layout!
It's been a lot of trial and error and with each stall I learn a little something different. It's also been super helpful to chat to some of the regular traders at the events because you get a better idea of what an average day at an event is. Nothing more disheartening than turning up on a bad week and not selling much, but it's a little reassuring to know everyone else is in the same boat :)
A few things I've learnt so far is obviously preparation is key and so is enthusiasm! Go into each event open minded and stick it out. You've paid for the full day - so stay! Don't overwhelm your customers with too much choice, be selective and keep things neat, makes its much easier for your customers to browse and see what really takes their interest. I'm still picking up little ideas and tips each time I attend and I'm also realising what really doesn't work, it'll be different for each person so just trial and error is best!

Shop Update
I've been a super busy bee lately! I took two weeks off from the day job and spent a good majority locked away in my work room updating the Ebay Shop! I sadly let the business slide downhill very quickly, when I started a new job a few years ago and moved in with my then partner. But! Alas! A new friend encouraged me to get back into it and now I'm so happy I did. If you know me personally you'll know I like to be kept busy, as much as I like a lazy day every now and then I've always got to be doing something (very rarely am I sat still!) So having the shop back up and running gives me a feeling of having more purpose and productivity.
I used to get frustrated the shop because it was very much in dribs and drab, however now the photos are much better and the listings are all neatly to the same format, so I feel like its a lot more organised and less messy - which is a definite plus for me & my OCD!
The majority of my stock is listed on the ebay shop...

and slowly but surely I'll be using my spare time to share the listings across to Etsy.
I've still got lots of work I still need to do, but now that business has taken of again, it's definite motivation to continue on with it!

Back To Work!
Hello all! I've not managed to be very consistent with the blogging but I have been quite a busy bee!
I've really been putting a lot of effort back in to my business and it means I've spent countless hours listing after listing after listing, and I'm still no where near close to getting finished haha! BUT... I'm enjoying it, and my hard work is slowly beginning to pay off!
Today's just a short one to say I am still about and I PLAN to be back more often but today I'll spend the rest of my day planning some *hopefully* more interesting blog posts for you guys!
Have a lovely Friday!
xoxo

New Stock!
After a year off sorting my life out after some MORE major changes I'm finally getting back on track (I think!) I'm investing more hours back into my business and trying to focus my time on what I enjoy. I've moved yet again in to a lovely little rented house a few doors away from my Best Friend and her beautiful little baby girl and things are hopefully looking up for me!
I'll slowly hopefully begin filling you in on all the little details that have changed but for now I'll leave you with some cute new additions to the EBay shop...FOUND HERE

Re-branding
Me being me, I like to make my own business cards. I know you can get lots of freebie offers but I think the add-on extras which they charge a fortune for are unnecessary! Why would I pay someone else to make things for me, when thats what my business is all about? I have lots of left off gloss card from uni however it's in A2 sheets, so I cut it all down to A4 size and print directly on to that and trim to size using borders that I pre-print onto the card and voila new business cards!
I've also made some more little mini 'The Polkadotte' magnets & little 'I'm a magnet' stickers to go on the bags so customers know they can stick them up on their fridge! Do you offer any little freebies for your customers? How do you package your items? do you opt for cheap & cheerful do you like to spend the extra to send something special?
